Bali become the host city for biggest and spectacular event in ASIA “1st ASIAN Beach Games 2008” started from 18th– 26th of Oktober 2008, which will participated by 45 countries and over than 10.000 athletes, officials, media and spectators from abroad country. This historic International Sporting event is an appropriate moment to show the world that Bali as a main tourist destination has managed to overcome the many challenges and regain confidence to restore the image as a safe and vibrant tourist destination, supporting the programme of Visit Indonesian Year 2008, Sightseeing Denpasar 2008 and Sport on Tourism. ‘Inspire the World’ is the theme for the Bali ASIAN Beach Games 2008, representing the strength of the Balinese people emerging from the horrific attacks on the island back in 2002 and 2005. The ASIAN Beach Games is a multi sport even will hold every two years for various beach sports competition such as : beach sepaktakraw, beach volley ball, body building, marathon swimming, woodball, surfing, and dragon boat. The competition divided in to three beaches : Sanur (Serangan cluster), Kuta (Jimbaran cluster) and Nusa Dua (Benoa cluster). The opening ceremony will be take place at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Bukit, Jimbaran, and will precedence by fire torch carnival from ‘Merapen’ fire source – middle of Java – Jakarta – Badung – Tabanan – Negara – Singaraja – Klungkung – Gianyar – Bangli – Denpasar – Garuda Wisny Kencana. The ASIAN Beach Games 2008 organizing by the Olympic Council of ASIA (OCA) and The National Olympic Committee of Indonesia (KONI), Bali Government Office, and Denpasar Government Office.
