On 28th – 30th of December 2008 at the area of Gajah Mada street, Denpasar will hold an exciting events Gajah Mada Town Festival, Great Sale, Food & Heritage Festival, organized between Denpasar municipality and small medium enterprises operators in conjunction of Sightseeing Denpasar 2008 and re-branding the place of Gajah Mada. Since a long time a go, Gajah Mada had traditional or cultural, multicultural, economical, nostalgic, humanistic values and was a source of inspiration. With theme of Inspiring Memories, the event designed to combine the culture and economic aspect during four days at Gajah Mada area. Gajah Mada Town Festival presents : cultural parade, endek parade, fashion show, marching band, bondres, modern and traditional music instrument and pop songs, multicultural events (barong sai, wushu), puppet show (cengblonk), back to eighties memories and colossal dramatic dance Jaya Pangus. In Great Sale events, customers will get a special discount/prices and satisfying services at any shops in around of Gajah Mada area, shopping centre or supermarket in aroud Denpasar area which is have a special sign Great Sale. On Food Heritage Festival a wide variety of Balinese traditional foods like lawar, roasted suckling pig, nail satay, yam rice, cendol ice, baked coconut residu, serombotan ant others will provided. This activity meant to preserve the Balinese traditional food and intended to encourage the Denpasar resident to love their own culture, particularly the processed traditional food, expected to become a city tour and consequently a unique attraction to tourist visiting Denpasar.
The opening ceremony will be on 28th of December 2008 on Jl. Gajah Mada at 3.00 pm.
Denpasar City Government Tourism Office would provide special service to visitors in form of Free Shutle Bus. This facility is exclusively intended for visitors who spending holiday in Denpasar during Gajah Mada Town Festival.
